Gabby Douglas, 2012 Olympic women’s gymnastics all-around champion. She is the first black gymnast in Olympic history to medal in the individual all-around, and the first woman of color to win the gold.

This young lady…not sure if I have the words to describe how proud I was to cheer her on as a fellow American.

If you haven’t seen her do her thing yet, you’re missing out. She’s insanely inspiring, and I don’t even know a single thing about gymnastics. And it’s not just about her being a black girl winning the gold. (Which is, like, INCREDIBLE. So happy for her)

The way she leaps and flips and twirls out there effortlessly…it’s mesmerizing. The most amazing quality she has isn’t the color of her skin. It’s her optimistic spirit, her determination, and her obvious love for gymnastics. Like, you can just tell that she’s worked sooo hard to be in London, and finally, it’s all paying off.

Plus, her smile is perf.
